Maximising Learning
Maximising Learning
Every organization has invested in valuable content – created by SMEs and experienced people in functional areas – in many areas of processes, procedures, products, services, skills, and competencies. Most of these content items reside as PPTs, PDFs, Word documents, and Audio and Video files, in the organization’s LMS and KMS systems. Yet, not many people in the organization access this content and their usage is limited.
The content delivery engine would push bite-sized content onto the user’s preferred device, tracking the user’s consumption pattern and adjusting the dosage accordingly.
Undoubtedly, if employees access these content items, they would benefit significantly and become more effective in their jobs through continuous upgrading of their skills and knowledge.
To maximize learning within an organization, bility™ incorporates functionalities that maximize the consumption of knowledge assets. The following strategic aspects get addressed:
- Making Content Consumable
- People-first Orchestration
- Content-first Orchestration
- Personalised Playlists
- Stimulating Consumption via Social Amplification.
Making Content Consumable
bility™ provides the following features to increase the consumption of content, and thereby maximize learning:
Disaggregation – Creating Bite-sized Content
Quite a few of the content assets in the organization are bulky – several pages of documentation, many slides in a slide deck, and large/long audio and video files – making it difficult for people to go through/consume.
Disaggregation is a process that breaks up bulky content into small, granular units (see “content beads”), each covering only one topic or concept. These are easier to access/download and consume, and people can go through them in shorter timeframes.
- bility™ incorporates an AI-based Content Disaggregation utility to create smaller content items (“beads” – should we use this term?) from larger documents, video, and audio files. The utility identifies topics and sub-topics covered within the larger content items and bookmarks relevant sections, for easy access and consumption of granular information.
- For example, a 10-minute video may be covering five separate topics, and if these get bookmarked separately, a user would be able to directly play a 2-minute section that covers the topic of interest, instead of running through the entire larger video.
People-first Orchestration
“People-first Orchestration” approach in bility™ tracks what each user is looking for, identifies which content would be of value in his/her current tasks, roles, and responsibilities, and delivers the appropriate content.
This places the person at the center and identifies/delivers specific content which would be useful/valuable for this user, thereby increasing the opportunities for consumption.
The Rich-Profiling Engine in bility™ (or Profile Harvester – which one should we use?) continuously tracks users’ activities and interests and uses this information to determine which content would be of value for each user.
Content-first Orchestration
“Content-first Orchestration” (Content Profiling?) approach in bility™ maps each content item to skills, capabilities, and roles, as well as identifies users who would benefit from this content item, and delivers to such users.
This places the content item at the center and identifies the people for whom this content item would be useful/valuable, thereby increasing the opportunities for consumption.
The content delivery engine (Recommendation Engine?) would push bite-sized content onto the user’s preferred device, tracking the user’s consumption pattern and adjusting the dosage accordingly.
Personalized Playlists & Assignments
bility™ enables users to search and identify content that they find interesting/useful, and string them together as “playlists”, thereby increasing the chances of content consumption.
Since these playlists are “their own”, they may also end up recommending these to their colleagues and others (see “Social Amplification”).
Similarly, managers would be able to create playlists and “assign” them to their team, or individuals. These playlists would also appear in the Recommendations list, and since these have come from one’s boss, they would certainly get consumed.
Stimulating Consumption via Social Amplification
bility™ has the following engines built in to stimulate the consumption of learning assets, via Social Amplification:
Alerts & Notifications
Multi-channel notifications (Email, App?) keep users alerted on new items in their dashboards (Recommendations and Trending Content), time schedules to complete assigned courses, and other learning activities to be performed.
Personalized Recommendations
The dashboard for each user has a “Recommendations” channel where all the content that has been recommended for them, would get listed. Some of this recommended content would be from the system, based on user profiling or content profiling, and some based on what other users have recommended.
Trending Content
bility™ pushes the “most read”/trending content items to users, thereby increasing the chances for consumption of these content items. These are p for each user based on the profile of each user.
bility™, therefore, is abide an elegant solution to Maximize Learning” through the functionalities/engines described above.
Over and above this, bility™ provides innovative solutions to address the following:
- Knowledge at the Time of Need
- Up-skilling & Reskilling with Visibility & Control
- Integrating Internal and External Content & Learning – One Platform, Many Sources
- Unlocking Minds – To capture knowledge and wisdom that resides in the minds of people.
- Democratization of Enterprise Learning
- Tracking, Measuring, and Reporting on Learning Outcome
